I haven’t made a large purchase of anime collectables in a lengthy span. Moreover, since I’ll be attending the small Tampa area Necronomicon convention as a dealer two weeks from now, I wanted to place a large order with Japanese second-hand anime merchandise vendor Mandarake. Part of the fun of being a fan is sharing one’s enthusiasm, so here’s a recording of the first unboxing of the six boxes that my large order shipped in.

As an addendum, I thought that Mandarake has switched to shipping in smaller boxes. I was wrong. The shipping boxes are still the same size. So I just misjudged the amount of space that my order would consume, thus I wildly misjudged the express delivery shipping cost.

Second addendum: the oddly placed Urusei Yatsura poster behind me is there to block incoming light from glaring on the camera lens.

Recently a friend returned from a trip to Japan. He asked what I wanted as souvenirs. I asked for any anime items that are uniquely Japanese and rarely, if ever, seen outside of Japan. He surprised me with five particular items.

This is the last of the five. A can of Detective Conan white soda.

My friend explained that during a Uniqlo stores promotion, purchasing two t-shirts included a bonus choice of an exclusive RX-78 or Zaku Gunpla kit inUniqlo color. This is, obviously, the Zaku kit in red & white rather than its traditional dark green.
